Form VI


Welcome to Form VI. 


Autumn Term 2016.


From the first day of the academic year in September, the children in Form VI work very hard. They concentrate on consolidating previous learning and extending their skills to the best of their ability. Their targets are to eradicate careless mistakes, follow procedures methodically, focus and work independently and improve presentation. This is all vital preparation for the forthcoming entrance examinations – the first of which is in September!


Mathematics and Reasoning (verbal and non-verbal) are taught by Mrs Brook. This term’s topics are Number which includes decimals, fractions and percentages as well as 2D and 3D shape.


English is taught by Mrs Miller who is covering Narrative, short story writing and general punctuation and grammar work.


Our Geography topic this term is developing our knowledge and understanding of the World and the necessary skills needed to accomplish this.


R.E. looks at the meaning and implications of Faith in some major religions of the World then at how Christmas is celebrated in different countries around
the World.


The children take a close look at the Victorian era in History.


Form VI will be going out for the day on October 13th along with Form V. They will travel by train then spend the day  exploring Saltaire and Shipley Glen.


Our Class Assembly is on Friday, 14th October.


Form VI will have their Christmas party on Thursday, 8th December.


Our trip to the Rex cinema at Elland is on Wednesday, 14th December. 


Finally, the Christmas Performance is at 2pm on the last day of term - Friday, 16th December.





The Form will return from the holiday with a positive mental attitude ready for the remaining entrance examinations and interviews held in January.


Our class reader is Mr William Shakespeare's Plays by Marcia Williams.


The geography topics this term are studying mountains of the world and then we will move on to take a detailed look at Jamaica.


In History, the children are very interested in extending their knowledge of World War II.


Our R.E. focuses on Sikhism, listening to stories about the Gurus and comparing similarities and differences between world faiths.


Our class assembly is on Friday, 10th February, 2017.


Comic Relief is on Friday, 24th March, 2017.

The Poetry and Singing House competition is on Monday afternoon, 27th March, 2017.

The Easter competition is on Thursday, 30th March, 2017.






All the pupils will now know their destination in September. Work continues but with more group activities and collaborative investigations. It is a busy term with lots of exciting things to do. We also spend time discussing the transition to senior school.


Our class reader is 'Simone's Diary' by Helen Pielichaty - a story of a young girl's thoughts, worries and hopes about starting in Year 7.


The pupils will take part in 2 days of cycling with Bikeability on May 4th and 5th, 2017.


Their final school exams take place at the end of May so we refine our revision techniques and skills.

The class is looking forward to this year's Adventure trip to the Isle of Man from the 12th to the 16th June, 2017.


The children will hopefully be going on a trip into Huddersfield, following a town trail to see how observant they are!

Our school Swimming Gala is on June 27th, 2017.


Sports Day and Prizegiving will be on Friday, 30th June, 2017.


The final trip this term will be to Lightwater Valley on Thursday, 6th July, 2017


Their last ever day at The Mount is Friday, 7th July, 2017.
