Welcome to Kindergarten!
During the Summer Term our topic will be ‘Space’
During our space topic we will be learning to use an information book as we find out interesting facts about the solar system. We are looking forward to sharing these facts with you in our class assembly. There will be lots of creative opportunities as we explore paint and collage materials and as we design and make our own rockets. Please come and see our rockets on display in the classroom. We will use our imagination as we take on the role of an astronaut in our rocket role play area outside and we will develop our acting skills as we retell the story 'Whatever Next'.
In our phonic sessions we will learn new sounds and tricky words and we will continue to practise our sentence writing, using a capital letter at the beginning, finger spaces and a full stop at the end. We will continue to practise our letter formation using a range of media. We will have the opportunity to become authors as we make our own information books about space.
Sounds we will focus on in the Summer term
oi, oy, ou, ar, er
In Maths we will continue to focus on our number formation. We will be learning to double and halve a number in practical activities. We will explore the names and properties of three dimensional shapes as we make our own rockets and we will become shape detectives as we look for 3d shapes in our environment.
