Peat Rigg Trip 2008

Daily Trip report THURSDAY 1 May 2008

After a very sound night’s sleep, today’s theme was “Amongst the Trees”. How many things can you use the forest for? Too many to mention but here are a few highlights.

Low ropes with fiendishly difficult obstacles – only passable with care and the help of your team mates!

The impossible tyres puzzle – solvable in 15 steps if you know how!

Best of all the high zip wire – but first you have to climb the telegraph pole steps, then walk the high wire and finally scale the rope ladder to reach the platform. You can even zip upside down  – Indiana Jones eat your heart out.

As you can see in the photo above, tonight is barbecue night followed by “The Mount School’s got Talent”. Singers, dancers, acrobats, poets and comedians – Peat Rigg hosts variety.

So its goodnight from us all until tomorrow. We have packing to do!

PS - we have hundreds of photos but each one takes half an hour to load on the website from here - so more pictures will follow next week.

Daily trip report Wednesday 30 April 2008

Another fun filled action day. Groups A and B stayed on

site and activities included Archery, Tree Climbing and

Problem Solving.

Groups C and D enjoyed the sunshine in Whitby and canoed

around the harbour. Tonight the whole group are playing

team games.

We all had a good nights sleep but campers awoke early

because of the early light. We have all had a great day with

lots of sunny weather. The above picture shows us after

dinner waiting for tonights activity.

Today Groups A and B went canoeing and visited Whitby

and the beach, whilst Groups D and C activites included

high wire and low ropes. Group A are pictured canoeing

on the River Esk near Whitby.

We all arrived safely at Peat Rigg at about 2.30pm.

All the children have been busy sorting our their dorms and tents for their first night. We stopped in York and walked around the Roman Walls before having lunch.

The picture shows the whole group as we walked

on top of the walls. We have just eaten our dinner and will soon be setting off on a forest walk. Hope this walk tires the children before our first night.

All the children are looking forward to tomorrow's activities.
