THE MOUNT SCHOOL

Extended School and Extended Care

Ethos

We appreciate that parents often lead busy lives. We have been leaders in Huddersfield for over twenty years in providing an extended care service both before and after school. This service is provided Monday to Friday both mornings and afternoons, exclusively for pupils attending the School and, unlike some educational settings, is staffed by well qualified members of our own team in facilities exclusively set aside for the purpose. This means that the pupils are always cared for by a familiar face in relaxing surroundings.

Unavoidably delayed when collecting your child at the end of the school day? This is never a problem. A quick call to school, even at the last minute, is all that is required to ensure your child is booked in.

Early Morning Extended Care - 7:45 am to 8:40 am

Parents arriving with their children can sign in and drop off their child in Breakfast Club from 7:45 am, safe in the knowledge that they will be taken care of and be able to relax and receive a breakfast before school starts. Staff members transfer the pupils into the main school building when the morning bell rings at 8:40 am. A range of breakfast options are available to all children that attend and children are free to choose as much or as little as they wish to eat and drink.

Extended School Session - 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

For the first hour after normal school the pupils in Forms III to VI can complete their homework in an extended school session, in a quiet environment, supervised by a member of our teaching staff. The children are, however, encouraged to attempt homework on their own. Younger pupils can also attend extended school for the first hour after normal school where play based learning activities are led by our teaching staff.

Extended Care Session - 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm

At 4:30 pm all pupils remaining at school transfer to the on site "Cedar Club" facilities with comfortable furniture in relaxing surroundings where a snack tea is provided including sandwiches, crisps, fruit, baked goods such as biscuits, flapjacks, etc, and drinks. A wide variety of games, toys, crafts and books are available together with a TV and DVD player.
